Nursery - Opening September 2025!
From September 2025 Halton Lodge Primary School will become known as Halton Lodge Nursery & Primary School... as we are very excited to announce the opening a school-based nursery (for children aged 3 and above). This will be a term time only provision (38 weeks of the year).
If you would like your child to be allocated a place in our nursery, please complete an Expression of Interest Form in the first instance. (You can download one by scrolling to the bottom of this page or contact the school office - 01928 564053 or office@haltonlodgeps.org.uk - to request one). We look forward to hearing from you!

At Halton Lodge Nursery & Primary School we want all of our children to enjoy their first years at school and, in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we provide a safe, caring environment where children can learn and grow in all areas of their development!
In EYFS we also recognise the value of both indoor and outdoor play - and our curriculum and environment are designed to ensure that the children have free access to a wide range of resources through continuous provision. The classroom areas are equipped to promote the children’s imaginative, creative and communication skills; problem solving and resilience.
The individual needs of the children are met through activities that carefully match their interests and abilities. In this way we seek to inspire them through the use of challenging questions and personalised learning and through ensuring rich and engaging learning experiences. Play underpins our provision, enabling children to explore the world around them, practise and build up ideas, learn to understand the need for rules, take risks and make mistakes.
Our aim is that the children leave our Reception class with a love of learning, a high level of independence and are prepared to start the National Curriculum in Year 1.

All of the activities and play opportunities in EYFS are underpinned by the seven areas of learning:
The Prime Areas of Learning:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development - Children are supported to manage their emotions, develop a positive sense of self, set themselves simple goals, have confidence in their own abilities and to persist (and wait for what they want).
Physical Development – By creating games and providing opportunities for play - both indoors and outdoors - adults can support children to develop their core strength, stability, balance, spatial awareness, co-ordination and agility.
Communication and Language - Through conversation, storytelling and role play - where children share their ideas with the support and modelling from their teacher (and sensitive questioning that invites them to elaborate) - children become comfortable using a rich range of vocabulary and language structures.
The Specific Areas of Learning:
Literacy – Children develop a lifelong love of books. They learn to enjoy rhymes, poems and songs. They become skilled at word reading and develop their language comprehension. They also learn to write through developing their transcription and composition.
Mathematics - Children develop positive attitudes and interests in mathematics, look for patterns and relationships, identifying connections, ‘having a go’, talking to adults and peers about what they notice and not being afraid to make mistakes.
Understanding The World - This helps children to develop their skills and understanding to make sense of the world around them. Learning about the physical world and their community, including people, environments and other cultures.
Expressive Arts and Design – Children are supported to grow their imagination and creativity through the development of their artistic and cultural awareness. They explore and engage with various media and materials.
